For 120 years chiropractors have been relieving acute and chronic pain without the use of drugs; opiates or otherwise. Chiropractic is extremely cost-effective health and wellness care, that can often eliminate the need for surgery.
Dr. Mathes has been serving the Mid-Maine area since 1987. His practice is dedicated to providing cost effective, high quality holistic health care, with a high level of patient satisfaction. Dr. Mathes utilizes a variety of chiropractic techniques to best suit each patient's unique needs, from Activator Methods to traditional techniques. Activator is a low force technique using a hand held instrument that is extremely accurate in adjusting for optimum healing. Dr. Mathes is one of the few doctors in the mid-Maine area holding an Advanced Proficiency Certification in Activator Methods. As part of a holistic health care delivery system, Dr. Mathes also utilizes acupuncture, herbal medicine, ultrasound, and electrical muscle stimulation, all of which are available right in the office.
Dr. Mathes received his doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, and holds a B.S. degree in biology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Dr. Mathes is a member of the Maine Chiropractic Association, has previously served on their Executive Board, and is a three time recipient of their Presidential Award. He has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce for over 30 years, and has served on the Board of Directors. Dr. Mathes currently serves on the board of the Waterville Food Bank.
Dr. Mathes received certification in Herbal Medicine from Western States Chiropractic College, and the University of Colorado School of Pharmacy. He is a Fellow of the Acupuncture Society of America (FASA) and is certified in chiropractic acupuncture by the state of Maine. In addition, Dr. Mathes has completed post-graduate work in whiplash injuries, therapeutic nutrition, diagnostic imaging, extremity adjusting, and occupational health.
Insurance assignments are accepted from Anthem BC/BS, Cigna, Aetna, Harvard Pilgrim, Med Net, Comp Net, and Medicare.
