Dr. Mathes utilizes a variety of chiropractic techniques to best suit each patient's unique needs, from traditional techniques to Activator Methods.
Activator is a low force technique using a hand held instrument that is extremely accurate adjusting the spine and other bones for optimum healing. Dr. Mathes is one of the few doctors in the mid-Maine area who holds an Advanced Proficiency Certification in Activator Methods. As part of a holistic health care delivery system, Dr. Mathes also utilizes acupuncture, herbal medicine, and physical modalities.
Dr. Mathes has received certification in herbal medicine from Western States Chiropractic College, and the University of Colorado School of Pharmacy, and he is a Fellow of the Acupuncture Society of America (FASA). Dr. Mathes is certified in chiropractic acupuncture by the state of Maine. In addition, Dr. Mathes has completed numerous post-graduate courses in whiplash injuries, therapeutic nutrition, diagnostic imaging, extremity adjusting, and occupational health.
Dr. Mathes has been serving the Mid-Maine area since 1987. He received his doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, and holds a B.S. degree in biology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Dr. Mathes is currently a member of the Maine Chiropractic Association, American Chiropractic Association, and the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce. He has previously served on the board for both the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce and the Maine Chiropractic Association, and he currently serves on the board of the Waterville Food Bank. Dr. Mathes is a three time recipient of the Presidential Award from the Maine Chiropractic Association.
Dr. Mathes' office is located on College Avenue across from the Waterville Post Office. The office is handicapped accessible from the west entrance. Physical modalities, such as ultrasound and electrical muscle stimulation, are available right in the office.
Insurance assignments are accepted from Anthem BC/BS, Cigna, Aetna, Harvard Pilgrim, Med Net, Comp Net, and Medicare.
