Dr. Mathes is one of the very few doctors in the mid-Maine area who holds an Advanced Proficiency Certification in Activator® Methods. His certification in Herbal Medicine is from both the University of Colorado School of Pharmacy and Western States Chiropractic College. He is a Fellow of the Acupuncture Society of America (FASA) and is certified both in Chiropractic Acupuncture and Extremity Adjusting. In addition, Dr. Mathes has completed numerous post-graduate courses in whiplash injuries, therapeutic nutrition, diagnostic imaging, and occupational health.
Dr. Mathes has been serving the Mid-Maine area since 1987. He received his doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, and also holds a B.S. degree in biology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Dr. Mathes is currently a member of the Maine Chiropractic Association and the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce. He received the Presidential Award from the Maine Chiropractic Association in 1999, 2000, and again in 2002. He has previously served on the board for both organizations, and currently serves on the board for the Waterville Food Bank.
When not busy healing patients, Dr. Mathes is an avid traveler, and enjoys cycling, hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing, but only when his five cats permit such indulgences. His wife of 35 years is much more supportive of his interests.
